Band Program

The marching band begins practice in late July or early August prior to the beginning of the school year and continues through the end of football season. The concert band begins immediately after marching season and continues the remainder of the school year. Jazz Bands meet before school each day.

Under the leadership of Director of Bands, Lydell Self, and Assistant Directors, Mark Hester, Skip Stubblefield, and Wade Williams, both the marching and concert bands have traditionally taken top honors at band festivals.

Approximately 500 students, from sixth grade through high school, participate in the Rome City Schools' band program.
